Any foreign documentation requires legalization to be valid in the territory of the Republic of Poland. Without official confirmation, even authentic documents lose their legal force.
W12 & Wikielson offers assistance in the legalization of documents for their subsequent use in official institutions. We guarantee compliance with all procedural requirements and optimal execution times at every stage of legalization.
Features of Document Legalization in Poland
Poland has applied a simplified legalization procedure since 2005, as a participant in the 1961 Hague Convention. This allows the use of the apostille procedure instead of a multi-stage consular legalization.
Authorized bodies are divided by competence:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA): apostilles most documents.
- Ministry of Culture: apostilles diplomas from art universities.
For documents intended for countries not party to the Hague Convention, full consular legalization is required.
Procedure for Legalizing a Document in Poland
The legalization process includes two mandatory actions:
- Verification of the authenticity of signatures and stamps on the documents.
- Confirmation of the authority of the person who signed the document.
Upon successful verification, the document receives an apostille – a special stamp on the reverse side. If there is no free space, an additional attachment sheet is used.
Certain categories of documents require prior certification by specialized authorities:
- Notarial deeds and court decisions are certified by the competent court.
- Commercial documentation – by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
- Educational diplomas are certified by the Ministry of Science and Education.
Each category of documents has an individual legalization route, determined by Polish legislation.
